Ok I'm blogging backwards on this one..I will post before pictures of the room and the furniture but for now here's the after. The first view is from on top of the stairs. I want to show you my office room that has not a single piece of furniture new in it. Everything, I repeat everything is second hand or built by my hands.
This is looking towards the corner..
This desk I bought from a garage sale I believe for $35 dollars just changed the knobs. The filing Cabinet was shamefully ugly so I painted it and put new handles on. The dachshund ceramic dog was a dollar at a garage sale. I have a flash card with a dachshund hanging to the left of it.
Here's a close up of the dachshund dog on top of my computer desk. This is the easiest dog to care for! I don't even have to feed it.
Here's a close up of the dachshund flash card, the picture frame isn't painted yet so I have it taped on the wall for now. I found two of these green lamps at Walmart for only 7 dollars and that became my inspiration for color in this room.
This is a close up of the bulletin board I have on my computer desk. Random things I enjoy staring at..
Here's a close up of one of the little shelves on my computer desk. These three books have been with me a very long time as a Graphic Designer. The ring was from forever 21 and it doesn't fit so it sits there..not sure why?
So the story on this big old table is I found it at a garage sale for $40 dollars and I painted the legs white. In case you haven't noticed white is my favorite color. This table fits quite a few so feel free to invite yourself over for some craft/scrapbooking/graphic design fun!! The items you see drilled into the wall are all my rulers I use for graphic design and sewing. Next picture shows a close up of what's below the rulers.
Below that is two sets of IKEA magnetic canisters that are suppose to be for kitchen spices, but as you can see I don't follow rules well. The Magazine rack was a garage sale find for 3 dollars and is also IKEA.
Straight ahead is what is shelve that was suppose to be for hanging a blanket, but I've decided it works so much better for organizing punches. I can easily slide punches off and on the provided space.
Here's a close up the orgainization of the punches.
Here's a close up a little bookcase my Mom bought me for $5 dollars and of course I painted it white. Works perfect for orgainzing stamps and is reachable to my 3 year old daughter who uses them often.
Love this little drawer thing. I bought it at Hobby Lobby about 7 years ago for $20 dollars. Oooops this was new!! Well I guess everything in this room is second hand by like 99% then?
This little drawer thing works perfect for holding my ribbons, pens, pencils, and markers.
I bought the chair for 3 dollars and then took it all apart painted it, and reupholstered it with beautiful green. It only took me a FULL day of my life. Sigh..not sure if I'll commit to that again.
Another view of the chair.
On top of bookcase the second green light. My basket of wine corks donated to me from freecycle and family, which I use for craft projects with my 3 year old daughter. I have a thing for elephants this one has the right colors for the spot.
On a shelve in the bookcase. I love using tins and tubs from food if it looks cool. Colored pencils in the oatmeal tin and foam stickers in the animal crackers tub.
This is in the opposite corner across from the large table. The circle picture I designed. Take one guess where I found the chair? Yup you got it a garage sale. It was shamefully ugly so I painted it my favorite color white. I still need to sew a cushion for it but for now I wrapped it with fabric. The little bookcase I just built to be the perfect size so when my daughter spins in the chair the chair cannot bang into the glass of the picture.
This the the bookcase that sits to the right of the chair I just showed you. I really enjoy reading. I just don't enjoy trying to find space to fit the books.
Ok more to see in this room believe it or not but it has to wait. Hope you've leave inspired!!

Revamped Lamps
So where have I been?? Well I've been a busy girl!! This blog is about to be slammed with some seriously good DIY household updates!!
Ok so I have to tell you about these lamps my Mom bought for my husband and I when we first got married 8 years ago. I actually really like the base, but hate the shades. It's my own fault really that I willingly hot glued fringe on the shades. It felt like a good idea at the time but as the years tick by I can't stand another second so I painted them!!
The lamps are handmade ceramic. They probably were worth something of actual value, but who knows now that I've gotten a hold of them. Well here it goes.. Primer.
I like to prep my work well for a good clean finish so this shows two full coats of primer. What follows is the high semi-gloss of a slightly off white color paint. If you don't know this about me white is my all time favorite color!!
Here is the pair of my DIY lamps finished!! These lamps are going to look so good when I get the rest of the living room finished. I strive for an all white living room with a tasteful explosion of color!
You've got to see how the light shines through these shades! Breathe taking!! I hunted for the perfect shades on many well-known online stores but had no real luck finding the feel and style I was looking for at the price I wanted, all it took as a trip over to my local Target and that's where I found these shades for only $14.99. Now that I can handle!
Oh and you might notice I am starting to prime the walls in the living room? It’s so exciting to think of clean fresh paint on the walls!
